What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let a site recognise your browser on a later visit, remember a preference, or measure how pages are being used. Some are set by the site you are visiting, and some by third-party services the site uses.
Cookies set by this site
The lettering tool sets no cookies at all. It has nothing to remember: your text, your style choice and your colours are held in the page’s memory and discarded when the tab closes. There is no account, no cart, no saved session and no server-side state.
Cookies set by third parties
| Category | Examples | What they do | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advertising | Google AdSense and its partners | Serve relevant advertising, limit how often the same ad is shown, and measure ad performance | Typically up to 13 months, depending on the cookie |
| Advertising consent | Google consent management | Record your advertising and cookie choices so the notice is not shown on every visit | Up to 13 months |
| Analytics | Google Analytics (measurement ID G-MXTFCT228L) | Measure aggregate page views, referring sources and approximate location | Typically up to 24 months |
| Security | Hosting provider | Distinguish real visitors from automated traffic and protect the service from abuse | Session to 12 months |
Personalised advertising
Google uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, which will stop the personalisation but not the advertising.
You can also opt out of personalised advertising from many third-party vendors through aboutads.info, or through youronlinechoices.eu if you are in the European Economic Area.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
Where consent is legally required, a consent notice is presented before any non-essential cookies are set, and no non-essential cookie is placed until you have made a choice. Your choice can be changed at any time through the same notice, which can be reopened from the footer of any page.
How to control cookies yourself
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings. You can also set most browsers to block third-party cookies entirely, which prevents most advertising cookies across all sites rather than just this one.
Blocking cookies will not affect the lettering tool, because the tool does not use them. It may affect your advertising experience and, depending on your settings, may cause a consent notice to appear on each visit.
Why cookies are still used on a site with no accounts
It is a fair question. The site itself needs no cookies, and the tool would work identically without a single one. Cookies exist here for the two things that are not the tool: advertising, which funds the site, and aggregate analytics, which shows which reference pages are actually being read.
Changes and contact
If the cookies used on this site change, the date at the top of this page will change and the table above will be updated to match. Questions about cookies can be sent to the address on the contact page with "Cookies" in the subject line.
